OKAY, CAN I JUST TAKE A MINUTE TO SAY "I TOAD YOU SO,"?

Toad Biscuit is a dynamic and genre-bending band fronted by Rexar Fang, blending elements of trap metal, underground rap, and heavy metal into an electrifying and unapologetically raw sound. Known for their aggressive beats, guttural vocals, and fast-paced explicit lyrics, the band’s music serves as both a creative outlet for Rexar and a way to explore themes of chaos, rebellion, and identity. The band’s aesthetic is as eclectic as their music, featuring dark, smoky visuals, fiery stage effects, and bold, often humorous imagery that matches their outrageous name. Their live performances are legendary, with Rexar’s stage presence captivating audiences as he transitions effortlessly between blistering rap verses, guttural screams, and haunting melodic refrains.

o n e . Rise To Fame

Toad Biscuit wasn’t always the polished, genre-defying sensation it would become. In the early days, it was a casual project started by Rexar Fang and his closest friend, Vaelyn, a charismatic and wildly talented bassist. The two had been inseparable since their teens, bonding over their shared love of music, rebellion, and disdain for the expectations placed on them by their respective families.

Rexar and Vaelyn started Toad Biscuit as a joke, never expecting it to go anywhere. Their first songs were rough, chaotic blends of screaming guitar riffs, pounding beats, and over-the-top lyrics. They would play impromptu sets in basements, garages, and even out in the middle of the Fang estates’ massive properties, just for fun.

That all changed when they decided to perform at a local venue on a whim. They slapped together a setlist, using the stage names “Toad Biscuit” as a last-minute inside joke, and performed with raw, unfiltered energy that left the audience stunned. The crowd’s reaction was electric—people couldn’t get enough of their wild antics, Rexar’s powerful stage presence, and Vaelyn’s incredible talent on the bass.

Word of mouth spread like wildfire. Their mix of trap metal, underground rap, and heavy rock was unlike anything anyone had heard before, and the chemistry between Rexar and Vaelyn on stage was palpable. Venues started reaching out, asking them to play, and before they knew it, Toad Biscuit had gone from a joke to something much bigger.

Toad Biscuit started playing small underground venues, gaining attention for their high-energy shows and Rexar’s commanding stage presence. Their performances became legendary—complete with fiery pyrotechnics (thanks to Rexar’s pyromancy abilities), flashing lights, and the band’s raw, unapologetic energy.

Songs like “Flame & Fury” and “No God, No King” resonated with audiences for their rebellious lyrics and genre-bending sounds. Word spread quickly, and soon they were headlining local festivals and venues, earning a dedicated following they affectionately called “Biscuit Heads.”

The turning point came when the band released their first EP, “Burnt Offerings.” A mix of explicit trap metal anthems, gut-punching rap tracks, and emotionally raw heavy metal ballads, the EP exploded in popularity on streaming platforms. Tracks like “Hellfire Heart” and “Biscuit Breakdown” became instant hits, drawing the attention of music critics and major labels.

With momentum building, Toad Biscuit landed a spot opening for a well-known alternative metal band during their national tour. The exposure catapulted them to fame, with Rexar’s charismatic stage presence and fiery theatrics stealing the show on more than one occasion. By the end of the tour, Toad Biscuit had become a household name in the underground music scene.

t w o . A Modern Day Judas

Years before Rexar Fang became the sole face of Toad Biscuit, the band was co-founded with his closest friend, Vaelyn “Vee” Hawthorne. Vaelyn was charismatic and electric on stage, known for his daring lyrics and magnetic stage presence, complementing Rexar’s raw musical talent.

For years, Rexar and Vaelyn were inseparable. They wrote music together, traveled together, and faced the ups and downs of their rising fame as a unit. Rexar’s steady presence balanced Vaelyn’s more chaotic energy, and their connection was the soul of Toad Biscuit. Fans adored the dynamic between the two, and it wasn’t uncommon for people to refer to them as a package deal. Rexar, who often struggled with the weight of his family’s legacy and his inner turmoil, found solace in Vaelyn’s friendship. It wasn’t just about the music—they were brothers in every way that mattered, and Rexar trusted Vaelyn like no one else.

However, Vaelyn's increasingly reckless behavior began to strain their partnership. During a high-profile show at an overcrowded venue in Glacivryn, Scrila called Ashwake Theatre, Vaelyn’s reckless antics took a dark turn. Ignoring fire safety protocols, he insisted on using additional pyrotechnics as part of their performance without Rexar’s knowledge. Midway through the set, the stage erupted in flames, engulfing the venue in chaos. In the panic, three lives were tragically lost, and countless others were injured. As the fire spread, Rexar spotted Vaelyn slipping out of the blaze, but instead of helping or taking responsibility, Vaelyn vanished into the night.

Left behind to face the fallout, Rexar was burdened with the public backlash, the weight of the restitution bills, and the shame of his family, who were furious over their name being tarnished by the scandal. Rexar was left reeling, and for a while, it seemed like Toad Biscuit might fall apart entirely.

The betrayal cut deeper than just losing a bandmate—it was like losing a piece of himself. Fans were stunned, and rumors swirled about what had happened between the two.

t h r e e . Like a Phoenix

In the end, Rexar decided to channel his pain into the music. Songs like “Ashes of Us” and “Never Again” became cathartic outlets for his anger and heartbreak, resonating deeply with fans.

After Vaelyn’s departure, Toad Biscuit teetered on the brink of collapse. The betrayal had not only shattered Rexar’s trust but also left a void in the band’s identity. Many assumed Toad Biscuit would disband entirely, especially since Vaelyn’s departure had taken their shared catalog of unreleased music with him. But Rexar, ever the defiant and determined spirit, refused to let the band die.

He made one thing clear from the start: the name Toad Biscuit wasn’t going anywhere. Though fans and critics alike suggested he rebrand, Rexar viewed keeping the name as a statement of resilience.

"Toad Biscuit isn’t just a name; it’s a legacy,"
he famously said during an interview.

"It’s the ashes, and now it’s the phoenix. We’re not done."

The Phoenix Era of Toad Biscuit was marked by experimentation. Their new music retained the fiery energy of their earlier work but incorporated a broader range of influences. Songs like “Rise from Ashes” and “Smoke and Cinders” combined trap beats, guttural metal vocals, and introspective lyrics about betrayal, loss, and rebirth.

Rexar’s emotions were raw, and he didn’t shy away from baring his soul. Fans resonated deeply with tracks like “Phoenix Rising”, a triumphant anthem of overcoming adversity, and “The Ghost of You”, a haunting ballad that many interpreted as a letter to Vaelyn. The album, titled Cinders to the Sky, became a critical and commercial success, cementing Toad Biscuit’s place as one of the most innovative bands in Hiraeth.

f o u r . Ashes to Ashes, Dust to Dust

Years after the Phoenix Era, Toad Biscuit continues to thrive, with Rexar at the helm. The band’s sound has matured, blending their signature chaotic energy with a more polished production. Their discography now includes multiple platinum albums, including the critically acclaimed Celestial Inferno, a concept album exploring themes of mortality, love, and cosmic insignificance.

Though the pain of Vaelyn’s betrayal still lingers in the shadows, Rexar has channeled that pain into something greater. Toad Biscuit stands as a testament to the power of rising from the ashes, blazing a trail for anyone who’s ever had to start over.
